As the largest charitable funder in Edmonton, we’re proud to support the arts and culture sector through community grants and scholarships, thanks to the generous support of thousands of donors.
ECF partners with Edmonton performing arts organizations to access matching dollars from the Federal Government for their endowments through the Canada Cultural Investment Fund (CCIF). The CCIF helps performing arts organizations build sustainability and autonomy by encouraging them to create and grow their own endowment funds.
Through this program, qualified organizations can receive up to a dollar for each dollar raised to grow their endowment, depending on the availability of funding and the number of successful arts organizations that apply. That means your donation can have even more impact for the performing arts you love.

FAQs
Endowment funds are established by donors to provide long-term support to the charitable sector. Donors can be individuals, companies and, in the case of the CCIF, charities themselves.
The funds are invested so they continue to grow and give – forever. Every year, a percentage of the value of those funds is granted to charities to support the vital work they are doing in the community.
The CCIF is an initiative led by the Government of Canada that helps performing arts organizations build sustainability and autonomy by encouraging them to create and grow their own endowment funds. The Government then matches contributions to these endowments up to 100%.
These organizations were not selected. The current partners have met the criteria for eligibility under the Canada Cultural Investment Fund program.
